ICOM has released a new ICOM Leadership guide (May 2026) developed by ICOM´s Executive Board. All ICOM members should have access to this guide. Although seemingly written for those who either are board members or are considering becoming board members, it explains the many factors relevant to ICOM service, elected and volunteer. Please familiarize yourself with with its contents.

The publishing of this guide at this time is opportune for SUSTAIN as the IC moves toward the end of its three-year probationary period (7 March 2024 to 7 March 2026) and prepares for the elections of a new board (2027-2030 and beyond). SUSTAIN, through its Action Plan and Bylaws, mirrors the organization of ICOM itself: we are member driven. As we move toward becoming a fully fledged ICOM International Committee, this is the governance model that the SUSTAIN has chosen, but for it to succeed we need active members. The ICOM Leadership Guide lays a foundation on which to build.
